OpenAI-compatible integrations

OverControl exposes an OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions endpoint. This means tools that support a custom OpenAI-compatible provider or Chat Completions endpoint can often connect to OverControl without a dedicated provider integration.
Compatibility depends on the API features and parameters used by each tool. Follow a tool-specific guide when one is available.

Connection settings

Most integrations use the same values: Some tools ask for a Base URL, while others ask for the complete Chat Completions endpoint. The tool-specific guides show which value to use. Migrate from OpenAI is that same client change, including the few fields to leave out.

Create an API key

Generate an API key from the OverControl dashboard.

Choose a model

Select a Lume model and copy its model ID exactly.

Configure the tool

Enter the OverControl Base URL or Chat Completions endpoint, API key, and model ID.

Test the connection

Send a simple message from the external tool to confirm the configuration works.

Troubleshooting

Check that the API key was copied correctly and has not been revoked. You can create and manage keys from the OverControl dashboard.
Check whether the tool expects the Base URL or the complete Chat Completions endpoint.
Confirm that you are using a current OverControl model ID and that it is written exactly as documented.View models
The tool must support either a custom OpenAI-compatible provider or a compatible Chat Completions endpoint.
Check your API usage and available quota or balance in the OverControl dashboard.
